Movie review and rating of the karate kid

The Karate Kid

Starring: Robert Miano, Martin Landau, Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, Taraji P. Henson
[full cast]
Directed by: Shaunt Benjamin, Harald Zwart

Movie plot:

12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying and the feeling is mutual, but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts the "karate kid" on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realises that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

Rating:I will give 3 stars out of 5.

Review:

What I loved most: The bullies attacking Dre Parker.

What I really hated: Jackie Chan is old and not much of his usual fighting scenes.

The movie was exciting and the plot is quite interesting and realistic. The whole process when the maintenance man, Mr Han, teaches Dre Parker kung Fu for the upcoming tournament is really spectacular as he teachers xiao Dre that that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realises that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

I think that the movie is totally worth watching!

Filial Piety

Hi I have just uploaded a video from YouTube: Filial Piety. This video, specially made by the 'think family' movement, is now in a recent advertisement screening on the TV. I uploaded this video to express what I felt about this video. Recently, Singapore promoted a dad's for life campaign to promote family bonding. In my opinion, I think this advertisement is trying to hint that we must take care of our family and never disown them. There's a part in the video which says that 'how our generation loves, the next generation learns.' I think the advertisement also want the next generation, us, to learn to love our parents too. I really wish mediacorp could have more of such advertisements. For more information go to www.thinkfamily.sg

Great!

Great! Now i am holding two blogs! The reason for creating this blog is to do a special kind of research, or book reviews etc.. YES! Research any kind of stuff, which includes statistics on a specific kind of topic. Whereas, the other blog which talks about my daily life. Next Question. Why this blog address? Bitter stupor. I got this inspiration from the book titled "the mother". There is this part in the book which says, "The mother,of a sudden, rushed away from the signboard to look at the fleeing lorry, her mind shaken into activity from its bitter stupor, her face animated with the promise of a task about to be accomplished." Therefore, I thought that bitter stupor will be a good blog address. I did that choice so randomly! Btw,this will be a good chance to consolidate my works here! So enjoy:)
